Op Cit Books in conjunction with the Santa Fe Women’s International Study Center will present a poetry reading by Martha Collins and Veronica Golos. The event will consist of an afternoon with two women whose poems use documentary as well as lyric modes to delve into America’s racial and racist past. Veronica Golos will read from Rootwork, which imagines the lost writings of nineteenth-century anti-slavery figures John Brown and Mary Day Brown; Martha Collins will read from Admit One: An American Scrapbook, which focuses on the early twentieth-century eugenics movement. The poets will also talk about their current work, and answer questions following the reading.
