Denver Post Recommends: Rhodes, Hallman, Milkweed |
A new article in the Denver Post heartily recommends Driftless by David Rhodes and The Hospital for Bad Poets by J.C. Hallman. The Denver Post comments that Driftless "comes with a heartwarming back story . . . and is beautifully written." Of The Hospital for Bad Poets, the article emphatically says, "The stories in this collection are inevitably weird and wonderful. Hallman has a deft touch in an increasingly heavy-handed world. The Hospital for Bad Poets deserves a large and enthusiastic readership." The Denver Post also draws attention to the work of several outstanding university and small-press publishers across the nation, stating, "with the downturn in the fortunes of New York trade houses, some of the best writers in America can now be found in alternative venues." In particular, the article hails "the development of Minneapolis/St. Paul as a publishing center, thanks largely to the existence of three fine small presses located there: Milkweed Editions, Coffee House Press, and Graywolf."
