Milkweed Editions seeks a Marketing Director to direct the press’s publicity and marketing campaigns for a diverse group of literary books. Candidates must be confident decision makers drawing on an understanding of the industry, marketing campaigns, and instinct. Candidates must also have the ability to manage financial resources, and must be well organized and capable of setting priorities under pressure. A college degree and at least 3-5 years of professional experience is preferred.
Main responsibilities will include:
Allocating the annual budget to evenly support overall sales and marketing goals; continually reviewing and reallocating financial resources as needed.
Ensuring the timely creation and delivery of all materials required by the press’s distributor (PGW)
Brainstorming inventive ways to capture media attention and generate sales
Pitching to reviewers and producers
Writing and editing effective publicity releases and pitch letters
Organizing and booking media tours
Coordinating grass roots, word-of-mouth, and viral electronic campaigns
Coordinating all marketing efforts with editorial and with the Publisher & CEO
