Milkweed Editions is a nonprofit literary press that publishes with the intention of making a humane impact on society, in the belief that literature is a transformative art, uniquely able to convey the essential experiences of the human heart and spirit. Milkweed accomplishes this mission through book publication, the creation of audiences for emerging writers, the Alliance for Reading program, community events, and its publishing internship program

Milkweed Editions has published nearly 200 titles in the genres of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction for adults, books for young readers ages 8 to 13, and, in The World As Home program, literary nonfiction about the natural world.
