Emma and the Ruby Ring

When Emma's baby sister Maeve is ill, she and her family go to
Donegal to stay with her cousin, Lucy. Emma overhears Lucy's parents
talking about how selfish Emma can be. While fiddling with Lucy's ruby
ring, Emma wishes she could do something to prove that she is not a bad
person.
She wakes up to find that she has been transported back
to Ireland in the 1880s, to a workhouse full of people whose lives have
been shattered. Emma learns that Lucy's ruby ring does grant wishes and
now, at a time of historical unrest, she must prove she can be the
heroic girl she wants to be. She meets two sisters, Sally and Maria,
and goes with them to Moylough Castle, where she becomes a scullery
maid. Emma must learn the secrets of its ancient walls to prevent her
new friends from being banished to Australia.

Author's Bio:Yvonne MacGrory was born and still lives in County Donegal, Ireland. She is also the author of The Secret of the Ruby Ring, Martha and the Ruby Ring, and The Ghost of Susannah Parry.
She worked as a nurse in Dublin and London and now lives with her
husband and three children. Her interests are reading, drawing, and
gardening.
Terry Myler trained at the National College of Art in Dublin. She has illustrated several books for children, including The Secret of the Ruby Ring. She lives in the Wicklow hills with her husband and daughter.
