Author's Bio:Though born in the middle of the North American continent, Bill Holm
(his last name means "island" in Old Norse) is a devotee of islands as
well as an essayist, musician, and poet. His books include Eccentric Islands, The Heart Can Be Filled Anywhere on Earth, The Dead Get By With Everything, and Box-Elder Bug Variations. When he is not island hopping, he lives in Minneota, Minnesota and teaches at Southwest State University.
Quotes:Boxelder Bug Variations is like a cross between The Far Side and
Doonesbury written by Whitman and Thoreau on an afternoon when they
were feeling a little more loose than is usually acceptable. Holm
obviously had fun writing this book. Minnesota Daily
In this
delightful book, Bill Holm muses on the lives of these humble bugs and
how humans could use them as a model. Entwined throughout this book is
the wonderful theme that in language and in music, majestic works often
begin with a small theme, a variation, a trifle that captures the
imagination of the artist. Reading Woman
