Quotes:“This collection would definitely be interesting reading and
discussion, especially at the high school level. . . . This is a
challenging anthology.”—Kliatt
“Subtle, surprising, and
complicated perspectives on diversity questions. . . . One of the
strengths of this collection is that they are not preachy. They will
provide an inviting retreat from the prohibition-filled public service
messages and various books of virtues that bombard our young.”—Hungry Mind Review
“I loved the challenges inherent in many of these pieces. Nothing is
easy here, and for that I was grateful, because nothing is easy in real
life, and that's what we've got in these pages. I am impressed with the
range of writers assembled by David Haynes and Julie Landsman, both
veteran teachers.”—Susan Straight, from the foreword
