Quotes:

“This straightforward, realistic novel centers on sixth-grader Arturo Morales, who is at a turning point in his life. . . . Students learn how to overcome skepticism and work through racial tension. They put their hidden talents to use.” —San Jose Mercury News

"Like Paul Fleischman's Seedfolks, this may encourage young readers to believe in the possibility of change, even if only on a small scale, in their own communities” — Booklist

“In Haugaard's first children's novel, Arturo Morales and his sixth grade classmates transform a Los Angeles neighborhood's local dump into a children's playground. . . . Readers benefit from her story of children determined to succeed and cheer them on each step of the way. Recommended.” —Library Talk

“The book offers inspiration for kids who want to take a good idea and make it real.” - —California Educator
