The Alliance for ReadingThrough the Alliance for Reading, Milkweed Editions partners with other organizations to bring activities that encourage reading for pleasure to middle grade children. The Alliance has been active for more than ten years in Twin Cities area schools, including bringing authors into the classroom, providing classroom sets of books, publishing student writing in the community paper, conducting in-school book clubs, and other activities. Alliance partners include: Milkweed Editions, The Community Reporter, Young Audiences of Minnesota, Partners for Violence Prevention, and St. Paul Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. Participating schools include: Adams Spanish Immersion, Ann Sullivan Middle School, Anwatin Middle School, Crosswinds Middle School, Four Seasons A+ School, Homecroft Elementary, Monroe Community School, North End School, Olson Middle School, San Miguel Middle School, Sheridan Global Fine Arts School, St. Francis St. James United School, Therapeutic Learning Center, and Twin Cities Academy. The Alliance for Reading gratefully acknowledges support from the St. Paul Travelers Foundation, the Ecolab Foundation, the Gannett Foundation, the Jostens Foundation, and the TLR/West Community Partnership Program.
